...That We Are Not

30 Years of Painting for 30 Years of Dissonance...
The series “...That We Are Not” explores duality, dissonance, and alienation—realities imposed upon individuals living in modern societies, regardless of their socio-demographic backgrounds.

Each piece began with a portrait sketch on canvas. I used various passe-partouts to frame and crop the portraits in ways that would create a sense of pressure for the viewer. I marked the wounds by attaching dried paint directly from my palette onto the faces. As a result, some of the works in this collection contain more than five layers of paint.

This series is a personal expression of the artist's own alienation within modern society—a society in which, despite shared life and solidarity, we sometimes face deep contradictions. It reflects a kind of estrangement that imposes roles upon us, ultimately leading to emotional discord and internal duality
